Legislative Council Fourth District: Democrat Eric Annes

Candidates for office were offered the opportunity to submit a profile about themselves and why residents should vote for them. Democrat Eric Annes is running for the Legislative Council from the Fourth District.

Eric Annes is running for political office for the first time and will bring a fresh voice to the Legislative Council.  Eric is a husband and father of two young children.  He graduated from Connecticut College in 1999 and earned his joint law degree and Masters in Environmental Management from Pace Law School and Yale School of Forestry in 2006.  He is a practicing attorney and has served on the Hamden Inland Wetlands Commission for the past four years.

Eric is running as the Democrat in the Fourth District because he cares about the community in which he is raising his children and will be an effective advocate for his constituents. Eric is most passionate about environmental issues and will be a strong voice in the drafting of the Plan of Conservation and Development.

As a father of young children, he has a personal interest in effective traffic calming measures. Spring Glen is a wonderful walkable community. The town must institute community-appropriate measures to make it safe.

Hamden provides a wonderful education to its students and first-class municipal services.  Eric understands that these services cost money, money that necessarily comes from the tax base.  The property tax, however, is a burden on Hamden’s residents, particularly senior citizens.  As councilman, Eric will work to ensure every tax dollar spent is a worthy investment.  He will work to expand the tax base by working to entice location-appropriate businesses to Hamden.  Eric respectfully asks for your vote on Nov. 5.
