Author to Make Virtual Appearance at Library via Skype

Hamden Public Library is pleased to announce that
Michael Perry, author of Visiting Tom: A Man, A Highway and the
Road to Roughneck Grace—
which chronicles his friendship with
his
eighty two year old neighbor, Tom, through their shared chats—will
address the Hamden Book Group via Skype
connection from his Wisconsin home on Monday, April 28th,
2014 at 7:00pm. The program will take place in the Friends Room at
the Miller Memorial Library, 2901 Dixwell Avenue in Hamden.

Perry’s essays and nonfiction have appeared in
numerous publications including The New York Times
Magazine, Esquire, Backpacker, Outside, Runner’s
World, Salon.com, and he is a contributing editor
to Men’s Health magazine. His writing
assignments have taken him to the top of Mt. Rainier with Iraq War
veterans, into the same room as the frozen head of Ted Williams,
across the United States with truckers and country music singers, and
even naked into a spray-tan booth. Published in 2013, Visiting Tom
relates Tom’s stories, memories and jokes at the same time
revealing much about Perry’s own homelife.

Copies of the book are available at the Miller Library.
The public is welcomed to attend. No reservations are necessary. For
more information please call 203-287-2680.
