CT ROSE SOCIETY MEETING & PARDEE ROSE GARDEN TOUR
The Connecticut Rose Society
will meet in the beautifully restored Greenhouse and Center at the Pardee
Rose Garden, established in 1922, located in New Haven’s East Rock Park .
After a guided tour of the garden, which features a tiered rose arbor and
stairway resembling the top of a wedding cake, Matthew Nabb, the City’s
resident horticulturist, will meet us in the Greenhouse classroom to share the
history of the garden and photographs from the early 1900’s.
Following Mr. Nabb’s presentation,
Consulting Rosarians will give a brief power point presentation, identifying
predominant rose pests of 2013 and how they were managed. Have you had any
problems this summer with rose disease or insects? You are welcome to bring
samples in sealed plastic bags to this meeting. Refreshments will follow.
Pardee Rose Garden, Greenhouse and
Center are located 180 Park Road,
Hamden, CT 06517-3845, at the intersection of Park Drive and Farm Road in
Hamden. Free parking.
