Hamden High School Parent-Teacher-Student Association (HHS-PTSA) will be hosting the Class of 2013 “After-Prom Runway” Show fundraiser on March 15 at 7:00 p.m. The show will take place in the Hamden High School Auditorium located at 2040 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden. Come see members of the HHS Senior Class model both Prom wear and After-Prom wear. Admission is $5.00 and tickets can be purchased by sending an e-mail to: firstname.lastname@example.org. Proceeds to benefit the HHS-PTSA After-Prom.
For more than twenty years the HHS-PTSA has hosted an After-Prom event for the HHS graduating seniors and their Prom guests. After-Prom is held on the HHS Campus and attended by over 500 students. It is an alcohol and drug free event where the graduating Seniors and their dates can enjoy themselves in a safe environment as an alternative for making plans to go from party to party after Prom has ended. The event, starting at midnight and ending at four in the morning, is well chaperoned and offers plenty to do. This year’s After-Prom theme will be James Bond/007. The hallways of HHS will be transformed into a party atmosphere with themed decorations. There will be a DJ for dancing, food in the cafeteria, an obstacle course in the gym and a comedic hypnotist.
As in past years, HHS PTSA hopes to make this event free to all who attend. Parents, business and residential members of the Hamden community are asked to volunteer, attend After-Prom fundraisers and consider a donation to defray cost of this “Positive” event. Donations should be made payable to HHS-PTSA After-Prom and mailed to HHS-PTSA After-Prom, Hamden High School, 2040 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, CT 06514.
Hamden Youth Advisory Council (HYAC) and their “Positive Choices” Campaign to prevent underage drinking and drug use supports the HHS-PTSA After-Prom event. Events such as these are instrumental in encouraging our Hamden youth to make “Positive Choices.” For more information about HYAC’s “Positive Choices” Campaign, contact Beth Chiarillo, Town of Hamden Youth Services Bureau, at (203) 777-2610 ext. 137. HYAC’s Positive Choices Campaign is supported by the Youth Development Training and Resource Center at The Consultation Center as an intermediary receiving funding from the State of Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) and assistance from The Governor’s Prevention Partnership in order to provide technical assistance, training, evaluation, and resources.
