Hamden CERT to Offer Training Classes

Joining the Hamden Community Emergency Response Team is a great way to give back to the community.



The Hamden Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will be conducting a Basic 10- Week Training Course starting on Wed., Feb. 12, 2014 at the Hamden Middle School, 2623 Dixwell Ave. in Hamden.

 Classes will be conducted once a week at 7 p.m. and attendance at all classes is mandatory. Classes will be approximately two and one half hours.

This course will be open to anyone over the age of 18 who has an interest in Emergency Preparedness or helping the Hamden community during emergencies and pre-planned community events.

The training will consist of basic first aid, light search and rescue techniques, fire extinguisher training and traffic safety, along with the goals and protocols of the Nationally Recognized CERT Program. Attendance at all classes is mandatory for certification of this program.

Applications will be available at the Fire Chiefs Office or by contacting the Hamden CERT Program Coordinator, Robert Freeman at bobfree216@yahoo.com. Applications must be received at the Office of the Fire Chief, 2372 Whitney Ave., no later than Feb. 3.
