The sun is shining, temperatures are climbing, and many communities are gearing up for neighborhood cleanups and Earth Day celebrations.
It's also Spring cleaning season, but someone apparently found it acceptable to dump a huge pile of trash into a river. And that's got a lot of people upset.
"With Spring (finally) on its way and our streams and rivers thawing away the last of their winter layers of ice, we were very upset to learn that a person/group of people felt it was OK to use the edge of Durkee Rd along the River as a dumping ground for their household trash," the Town of Somers writes on its Facebook page.
"While it is our hope that something within the discarded material may hold a key as to who dumped it there we ask that if you have any information regarding what happened to please let the State Police know. Somers is a beautiful place to live and we want to do everything we can to preserve its character."
What should be the punishment for someone who throws this amount of trash into a river?
