Hamden's Silverbells Celebration Saturday

Hamden's Silverbells Celebration to include day of activities: Treelighting, Caroling, Hayrides, Carousel, Puppet Show, Crafts and Santa.



Town Center Park will be filled with holiday lights and community merrymaking on Sat. Dec. 7 from 2:30 - 6 p.m. for Hamden's Silverbells Celebration. (Rain date for outdoor activities: Dec. 8)

The event will include a puppet show, carousel rides, hayrides, crafts, letters to Santa, caroling, treeligthing and Santa's arrival by firetruck.  All events except for the puppet show are free.

Some festivities will take place in the Miller Cultural Center, 2901 Dixwell Ave. These are:

  • 12:30 - 2:30 pm pm: Face Painting at Hamden Public Library.
  • 2:30 pm: Puppet show: "Midwinter Magic" by Gerwick Puppets.  Admission is $2 children/$3 adults.

At Town Center Park, festivities include:
  • 2:30 - 6 pm: Hayrides
  • 2:30 - 6 pm: Carousel rides, holiday crafts, button-making, face painting and letters to Santa.
  • 3:45 pm: Caroling with the Hamden Girl Scouts
  • 4:15 pm: Community caroling and tree ligthing ceremony, with Hamden elementary school singers.
  • 4:30 pm: Santa's arrival by fire truck and visits with Santa

The event is presented by Hamden's Arts, Recreation and Culture Department, with support from Hamden’s Fire Department, Public Works Department and Parks Division, Hamden’s Community Emergency Response Team, Hamden Public Library, Hamden Public Schools, Hamden Rotary Club, and P.L.A.C.E.

Please bring an unwrapped toy for the Hamden Kids Holiday Toy Drive.
