Out before the deluge! 9:30 Trails Crew met at the main entrance – a weak sun shone through the clouds, although the breeze was damp – long sleeved attire was needed, but I couldn’t bear to trap my legs in long pants!
Three groups headed in various directions to pick up the inevitable trash. Our group divided itself along either side of the Mill. Despite the fact that we policed this area last week, we still got over 4 pounds of trash, mostly broken bottles, and an awful lot of fish line, which didn’t weigh much, but is such a hazard for wildlife.
I stopped to pull Garlic Mustard and chop Japanese Barberry, both ‘invasives’, but I also managed to “photo pick” a few wildflowers (check out the accomanying photos).
It always amazes me, the unique and special things I can find, if I pay close attention. The same path never looks the same the next time I hike it. With care, Mother Nature will continue to supply amazing treasures for our enjoyment for a long time to come. Happy Earth Day!
