Happy First Day of Snow!

Love snow days!

Normally gray skies don't do it for me... Actually, I'm usually pretty blah on days when the sun's not shining.  Today though, I'm really enjoying it!  I'm hunkered down at my house with the space heater on, blankets on my lap, looking out at the snow, and just generally feeling pretty cozy.  I'm having a lazy, slow day and I'm enjoying every second of it.  I'm currently planning out dinner for my boyfriend and I for the night.  I'm thinking warming foods - baked brussels sprouts and red peppers with garlic and salt and pork chops.  I've never made pork chops before, so I'm scouring the internet for delicious, healthy recipes.  I'm curious to see how whatever I end up making tastes.  :)  Does anyone have any good pork recipes they can share?

Hope you're enjoying a slow, lazy snow day too.

Megan, I tend to use very thick cut chops, so that helps! Also, getting the pan (I use cast Iron) really hot to seal in the juices makes a big difference.

Oh yeah, try the one with apples and onions - that sounds amazing! I have to start making a list now - maybe that will encourage me to start earlier!

Jaimie, I'll try the apple one soon. One of my customers at Starbucks said that she normally has her Christmas shopping DONE by this time! She says she buys throughout the year when she sees something for the right person, and sometimes even wraps it right then! I'd need a spreadsheet to know what I bought for who and how much I've spent. Man oh man, that's organized! Andee, Oh okay. Is a cast iron pan really all it's cracked up to be? What's the difference between that and a normal, run-of-the-mill pan?

I never knew those kinds of people existed, Megan! I put them in the league of Big Foot and the Loch Ness Monster - heard people talk about it but never saw 'em myself!
