The Outer Space Jazz Series is proud to present Saxophonist Jimmy Greene on Sunday, August 12th, 6-8pm $10 cover

The Outer Space Jazz Series proudly welcomes Saxophonist Jimmy Greene.

Saxophonist, composer, and bandleader Jimmy Greene has emerged as a positive young presence in the creative music world. His solo recordings, have been met with much critical acclaim. In fact, Tony Hall of Jazzwise Magazine calls Greene "...without doubt one of the most striking young tenors of recent years."

Greene was born in Hartford, CT on February 24, 1975. From a young age, he exhibited a God-given affinity for music. Greene's parents started him on alto saxophone at age six, and encouraged him to practice. As a high school student, Greene was selected to perform in several Regional, All-Connecticut, and All-New England jazz ensembles and symphonic bands. Greene's music teacher at Bloomfield High School arranged for him to meet and play for Jackie McLean at the famed altoist's community arts school, The Artists'Collective. Of his eager student, McLean commented, "From the beginning, I could tell that he was going to be an exceptional student. He already had a very mature sound and a very mature concept." McLean's teaching over the subsequent years gave the young musician a firm foundation in improvisation, a profound viewpoint of the jazz tradition, as well as the inspiration to seek his own musical identity.

Mr. Greene will be accompanied by
Andrew Kosiba Piano
Andrew Zwart Bass
Michael Dick Drums

Check out the CVS parking lot when the High School lets out. I've seen "Daddy" picking upRead More little "Johnny" in a Town owned car. We know it was tax money paying for the gas, just hope it was lunch time. I thought the Town was cracking down on inappropriate use of vehicles. I hope not many have use of a car on Sunday, and sure hope they were on Town duty. Yes, Angela, sadly you are right, nothing will change, but there is always a chance maybe someone will listen.

CORRUPTION- IS MORE LIKE IT. GRAFT, UNLESS YOU CHANGE YOUR VOTING HABITS - AS ENSTEIN SAID- DOINGRead More THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AND EXPECTING A DIFFERENT RESULT IS INSANITY. THAT IS THE VOTING HERE IN HAMDEN- INSANE THAT PEOPLE CONTINUE TO VOTE DEMOCRATIC AND EXPECT THINGS TO CHANGE. If you notice all cities with the democratic party in charge in the U.S. has the same problems. Start with New Haven, Hamden, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, New Orleans, they all have the same problems. Welfare, union legacy costs, taxation, North Haven seems to be run better, must check that out. Don't know if that is a democrat or not.

Beth there is so much abuse in this town it is ridiculous. How about getting stopped for seat beltRead More violations when most of the police do not wear them, or when they use cell phones instead of hands free devices. Could go on and on but who cares it will change NOTHING.
