Funeral Saturday for LeVern Brown

Brown's life will be celebrated Saturday at the Agape Christian Center in New Haven.

The Hamden man who was killed last month allegedly by his girlfriend will be remembered at funeral services Saturday.

LeVern Brown, Jr., 44, died on Sept. 29 after his girlfriend, Rita Renee Johnson, allegedly stabbed him to death after an argument. She has been charged with his murder. 

Brown was born in New Haven on June 2, 1968 to Dedriann Grant and the late LeVern Brown, Sr. He was employed at Chartwell's at Quinnipac University for 12 years as a cook.

He is survived by his children, Sigourney Whitley, LeVern D. Brown and Lashonda Sherard; his sisters Nakia Durham and Lateefah Setzer, brothers Ron Grant, Antonio Setzer, Terry Setzer and Maurice Williams-Setzer, a grandchild Sincere Whitley, paternal grandparents Rowley and Lorraine Brown and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Melvin and Maybell Brown.

A ceremony of celebration of his life will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012 at Agape Christian Center, 90-100 Goffe St., New Haven. Calling hours are from 8 a.m. until time of service. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery.
