Bessie Lucille Smith, 85, of Whitney Ave., Hamden, peacefully entered eternal rest on Jan. 7, 2014.
She was born to the late Henry and Gladys (McBeth) Fox on June 25, 1928 in Columbia, SC.
She leaves to cherish her memory; sons, Clayton Smith (Alteria) of VA, Kenneth M. Smith of New Haven; daughters, Jacqueline Dantzler of New Haven, Diane Smith of GA, Barbara Park of GA; 28 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Henry Smith, son, Winston Dantzler, and daughters, Brenda and Sharon Smith.
A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 3:30 p.m. at Howard K. Hill Funeral Services, 1287 Chapel St., New Haven. Calling hour will be Tuesday at the church from 2:30-3:30pm. Interment will be private.
