Hamden Obituaries: Daniel M. Alberino, 95

A World War II Navy Veteran, he was member of the VFW and the Hamden Elks Club.




Daniel M. Alberino, 95, of Hamden, died Dec. 26, 2013 at Talmadge Park after a long illness. He was the husband of the late Violet O’Neil Alberino.

Dan was born in New Haven on Oct. 30, 1918, the son of the late Dominick and Rose Alberino, and had resided in Hamden most of his life. He was a finisher and foreman at Winchester Repeating Arms Co. for more than 40 years.

An avid golfer, he was a member of Meadowbrook Golf Club for many years and after retiring, he worked as a starter at Laurel View and Yale Golf Courses.

A World War II Navy Veteran, he was member of the VFW and the Hamden Elks Club.

He is survived by his loving children, Carole (Dominic) Murgo of East Haven, Rosemary (Benjamin) Figueroa of Madison and Gail (Robert) Lawlor of Meriden, siblings Emily (Dolly) Hart of Meriden and Raymond Alberino of West Haven, grandchildren, Robert, David & Brian Lawlor, Benjamin Figueroa and Joseph Murgo and eight great grandchildren.

He was pre-deceased by a grandson Daniel Figueroa and siblings, Ida Sheehan, Angie Gagliardi, Barbara Niglio, Anthony, Benjamin, Edward, and Thomas Alberino.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 12 noon in the Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home, 1022 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, followed by interment in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Friends may call Monday morning from 10:30 to noon.
