Hamden Obituaries: Gregory B. Dubno, 44

Greg loved all cats and dogs (especially his much loved cat, Shayna), movies, music, books and games, comedy, nature and the outdoors, food, and spending time in NYC, CT and all over the world with his girlfriend, Robin.

 

Gregory B. Dubno, 44, of Hamden, passed away Feb. 16, 2013 in New York City after suffering an apparent heart attack.

Born in New Haven on Feb. 24, 1968, he was the beloved son of Orest T. “Tom” and Irina Dubno of New Haven.

Greg was a screen writer, filmmaker and stand up comedian. He was a graduate of The Hopkins School, Class of 1986, where he was honored with the Elsie Church Award for English and Dramatics. He held a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Film/Art Media Studies from Syracuse University, Class of 1990.

Greg loved all cats and dogs (especially his much loved cat, Shayna), movies, music, books and games, comedy, nature and the outdoors, food, and spending time in NYC, CT and all over the world with his wonderful girlfriend, Robin.

Besides his parents, Greg leaves to miss him eternally his sister, Danna M. Dubno and her partner, John Blowers of Ballston Lake, N.Y.; his girlfriend, Robin M. Becker of New York City; his aunts and uncles, Irene Hladkyi, Olha Pospolita and Luba Dubno, all of New Haven, Lana Golembieski of North Branford, Serge (Andrea) Leschuk of Clinton, William (Jane) Leschuk of North Branford and a host of dear cousins, extended family and friends.

There will be no calling hours. Friends are invited to attend Funeral Liturgy in St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 569 George St., New Haven on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 10 a.m. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Greg’s memory may be made to Our Companions Animal Rescue, P.O. 956, Manchester, CT. 06045 or online at www.ourcompanions.org. noting your donation in memory of Gregory B. Dubno.
