Hamden Obituaries: Harriet G. Rashba, 86

Harriet taught for many years in the Hamden Public Schools System and after retiring ran a tutoring business.

Harriet G. Rashba, 86, of Hamden, CT, wife of 65 years of Norman Rashba, died Sept. 22, 2013 after a long illness.

Harriet is also survived by her three children and their spouses, Howard and Susan Rashba, Susan and Richard Engelhardt and Rachel and Michael Berman. She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Harriet was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Wallingford. She earned a Bachelor's degree at UConn and a Master's degree at S.C.S.U. Harriet taught for many years in the Hamden Public Schools System and after retiring ran a tutoring business.

Harriet loved family and her home was the center of Jewish holiday activity. Harriet was well known in both Hamden and Cape Cod for her artwork and beautiful gardens.

Harriet's family would like to express their appreciation to the staff and administration of Arden Courts of Hamden for the special care and concern given Harriet during her four year residency there.

Funeral service at the Congregation Mishkan Israel, 785 Ridge Rd., Hamden, Wednesday morning at 11:30. The interment will be in the Mishkan Israel Cemetery, Jewell St., New Haven. The Weller Funeral Home, 493 Whitney Ave., New Haven is in charge of arrangements.
