Hamden Obituaries: John J. O’Neill, 75



John J. O’Neill, 75, of Hamden, died on Nov. 12, 2013 at the Connecticut Hospice.

The beloved husband of Joan Conway O’Neill, John was born in New Haven on Sept. 3, 1938 to the late Frank and Bridget Reynolds O’Neill.

He leaves to cherish his memory two loving children, his son Christopher O’Neill and his wife Sowjanya and grandchildren Devin and Sarita of McLean, Virginia, and daughter Jacqueline O’Neill and Trevor Stewart of Pomptom Plains, New Jersey.

He also leaves his siblings, Mary McKiernan, Frank (Marie) O’Neill, Edward (Harriet) O’Neill, Patricia (David) Viglione, Nancy (David) Hainsworth, and Daniel (Susan) O’Neill and his brother-in-law, Barry Conway. He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas and brother-in-law, William McKiernan.

Mr. O’Neill worked part time at Home Depot following his retirement as director of property management at Equity Office at Shelton Point. He was president of the Derby Gilbert Corporation, member of the High Lane Club and member of the Spring Glen Association.

His funeral will leave from Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, on Friday, Nov. 15 at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Rita’s Church, followed by a burial in Mount Saint Peter’s Cemetery in Derby. Friends may visit with his family on Thursday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
