Hamden Obituaries: Joseph Michael Twohill, 67

His wake is tonight in Hamden and funeral services are Tuesday.

Joseph Michael Twohill, 67, Ret. NHFD, of Cheshire, died Oct. 3, 2013 in Connecticut Hospice. 

He was the beloved husband of 43 years to Carol Guthrie Twohill and the loving father of John Twohill, NHFD, of Hamden, and Megan Marottolo (Jeremy) of North Haven. He also was grandfather to his cherished grandchildren: Emma, Addison, Rylan Twohill and Molly and Alex Marottolo. 

He is also survived by his brother Thomas (Norma) Twohill of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, sisters Michella (Mickey) (Dr. Arthur) DeLucia DDS of Madison, Maryellen (James) Waddell,, and Kathleen Franco both of North Haven, sister in law Theresa Twohill of East Haven, Brother in law Charles (Susan) Guthrie of Del Ray, FL., Craig (Rae) Guthrie of North Haven, Daughter in law Nichole (Marshall) Twohill and several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

He was predeceased by brothers Robert Twohill, Daniel Twohill and brother-in-law Nicholas Franco. 

Joe-Mike was born in New Haven, the sixth of seven children of the late Thomas and Catherine (Callahan) Twohill. He attended St. Francis Grammar School and Wilbur Cross High School. He retired after 26 years with the New Haven Fire Department and from the Judicial Marshall's Office of New Haven. He was a member of the Knights of St. Patrick and Elks Club Lodge #25. 

Joe-Mike enjoyed spending time with his beloved grandkids and attending their various activities. He also loved the Twohill-Perrelli-Loomis annual Cape Cod Trip. 

The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Connecticut Hospice for their loving care. Special thanks to Christin Knowlton, M.D. Assistant Clinical Professor Yale School of Medicine Department of Therapeutic Radiology. 

His funeral will leave Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden, on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Rita Church. Burial will be in Centerville Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 3 - 7 p.m.
