Hamden Obituaries: Letitia M. Flagge, 100

She retired from the town of Hamden after 21 years as secretary to the Hamden Fire Chief.



Letitia M. Flagge, 100, wife of the late Theodore Flagge, passed away on Jan. 4, 2014 after a short illness.

Born in New Haven on July 13, 1913 to the late Constantino and Francesca Avidani Merlone, Letitia is survived by her son, Theodore H. Flagge III and his wife Janice of Shelton; her grandchildren, Matthew and Nicole Flagge; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her four brothers, Joseph, Ernest, Dino, and William Merlone.

Letitia was a lifelong resident of Hamden and a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. She retired from the town of Hamden after 21 years as secretary to the Hamden Fire Chief. After retirement she was active in the Hamden Senior Center.

Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, Jan. 8 at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 2819 Whitney Ave, Hamden, followed by her burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Beecher & Bennett, 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden, in care of arrangements.
