Hamden Obituaries: Richard Marnic, 76

Richard was in the United States Army and served his country with great pride.



Richard Marnic of Hamden passed away on Jan. 6, 2014 surrounded by his family.

Richard was born in Connellsville, PA on Sept. 26, 1937 to Stephen & Virginia (Curtis) Marnic. Richard married his loving wife Anne (Tobin) of 41 years and shared the lives of his three children, Stephen P. Marnic and his wife Linda, Lisa A. (Marnic) Seubert and Richard W. Marnic and his wife Jennifer. He was the proud grandfather of 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Richard is survived by his sister, Judith A. (Marnic) Gallagher, and sister-in-law Margaret (Tobin) and her husband James Kenefick. He was predeceased by his sister Marlene F. (Marnic) Fair. He will be remembered dearly by his many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Richard was in the United States Army and served his country with great pride. He worked 36 years for Nationwide Insurance and retired in 1993 as Controller for the New England region. He was a member of the Butler Pennsylvania Elks Lodge #170.

Richard was an avid golfer, reader and a dedicated fan of the UCONN Women’s Husky basketball team.

Richard was blessed with the care of many wonderful doctors and nurses. The family would like to thank Dr. Jacqueline R. Satchell Jones, MD, Dr. Thomas Eisen, MD, Dr. Harold Tara, MD and his magnificent staff. Special thanks also to Dr. Joseph Cardinale, MD, Dr. Allan J. Rodrigues, MD and Dr. Richard Salzano, MD. They would also like to thank the compassionate staff of St. Raphael’s Hospital.

There will be no calling hours. Friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, celebrated in St. Stanislaus Church, State Street, New Haven. A private burial will follow.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus Church, 9 Eld Street, New Haven, CT 06511 or to St. Ann’s Soup Kitchen, 930 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden, CT 06514.

Arrangements are in care of BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave, Hamden.
