Hamden Obituaries: Rita Ann DeMatteo Mott, 84

Rita Ann DeMatteo Mott, 84, beloved wife of the late Frederick H. Mott of Hamden, passed away after a brief illness on Sept. 4, 2013.

She was the loving mother of Frederick J. Mott of Hamden, beloved grandmother of Frederick Howard Mott and Michael John Mott, both of Hamden, and predeceased by sisters, Rosemary DeMatteo, Marion Zavorskas and brothers, Joseph, Albert, Gene and Alex DeMatteo.

Rita was born in New Haven, Dec. 29, 1928, a daughter of the late Pasquale and Rachel Miranda DeMatteo and had resided in Hamden since 1955. She was employed by Blue Cross for 17 years, from 1943 -1960. Upon leaving Blue Cross, she joined the family business as office manager and co-owner of F.H. Mott Fuel, LLC, where she continued to work until her death.

She was a communicant of St. Rita Church.

Her funeral will leave from Beecher & Bennett, 2300 Whitney Ave., Monday morning, Sept 9. at 9:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Rita Church at 10 a.m. Friends may visit with her family on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. Interment in Centerville Cemetery.
