Joseph Pisani, 92

The Hamden resident was a statewide Table Tennis Champion, Past Grand Knight of San Salvador Council No. 1, Knights of Columbus and received the Gold Ring Award from the New Haven Boys and Girls Club Alumni.

Joseph Pisani, 92, formerly of Lucien Drive, Hamden, passed away Sept. 5, 2012 in Highland Health Care in Cheshire after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Dea Lombardi Pisani.

Mr. Pisani was born in New Haven on Oct. 25, 1919, the son of the late Antonio and Adolorata (Dora) Ciccarelli Pisani. He worked at the Supreme Headquarters of the Knights of Columbus in New Haven for many years.

In his younger days, he was Statewide Table Tennis Champion. He is a Past Grand Knight of San Salvador Council No. 1, Knights of Columbus; was awarded an Honorary Life Membership in the Knights of Columbus by past Supreme Knight, Virgil Dechant and received the Gold Ring Award from the New Haven Boys and Girls Club Alumni in 2000.

He is survived by his brother, Dr. Lawrence Pisani of Hamden and a niece Doretta Sweeney of North Haven. He was predeceased by his sister, Concetta DiNello.

His funeral will leave from the Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St., (cor. Dwight), New Haven Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Michael's Church, Wooster Square, at 10 a.m. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday morning prior to the funeral from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hamden.
