Louise Cofrances Pellico, wife of Andrew L. Pellico, and daughter of Dr. Louis A. Cofrances and Rose Balsamo Cofrances, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012 at the Masonicare Health Center.
Louise graduated from Helen Street School, Hamden High School in 1949, and Larson College. She met Andrew on Valentine's Day in 1949, and they married in 1952.
Louise leaves behind her loving husband of 60 years and three children: John Louis Pellico (Linda); Laura Pellico Prostano (Stephen), and Richard (Denise) Pellico; and eight grandchildren: Taryn, Dana and Alex (Prostano); Ryan and Katie (Pellico); and Tyler, Alex and Kevin (D'Errico).
Louise re-entered the work force as a sales assistant at Moore Business Forms and retired in 1986. Upon retirement she alternated residences between her home in Falmouth, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and Hamden. She enjoyed swimming, sailing and dinner gatherings. Louise delighted in preparing meals and was known for her spaghetti with white sauce, with clams gathered by Andrew in the Cape estuaries.
Andrew and Louise traveled to Michigan, Canada, Florida, Maine, Aruba, Cancun, and Bermuda during their retirement years. She was an active member of the Hamden Women's Club.
Louise was predeceased by her brother Dr. William A. Cofrances and is survived by her sisters in law, Mrs. Lorraine Cofrances, Mrs. Joan Inzero, and brother in law Robert Pellico, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Louise was a humble person who reminds all of the parable about the parishioner who sat in the last pew at Church as she felt it was presumptuous to be in the first pew. All who knew Louise believe God has escorted her to the first pew. She delighted in her family and friends and will be dearly missed.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, Sept. 30 from 3 - 7 p.m. at the Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Oct. 1 at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 2819 Whitney Ave. Interment will follow at Saint Mary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in memory of Louise may be made to The Masonic Charity Foundation of Connecticut, 74 Cheshire Rd., P.O. Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492 or Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405-4906). www.siskbrothers.com
