Margaret J. Kelly DeFonse, 102

Margaret was an avid bowler with the Seniors in Hamden and she loved gardening, baking, knitting, crocheting -- and was very talented in all.

Margaret J. Kelly DeFonse, 102, of Hamden, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013 at the Masonicare in Wallingford.

The wife of the late Ralph R. DeFonse, she was born in Wallingford on March 31, 1910, the daughter of the late Frank and Katherine O’Donnell Kelly.

She was an avid bowler with the Seniors in Hamden and she loved gardening, baking, knitting, crocheting and was very talented in all.

She was the mother of Marie Brunelle of Cheshire and the late August R. DeFonse, the grandmother of Tracey (Jean) Post of Melbourne, FL, and great-grandmother of Kelly, Kyle and Conner Post. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and was predeceased by three brothers and five sisters.

Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., on Monday at 9:30 a.m.. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in the Church of the Ascension at 10 a.m. Interment will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 10 a.m. in Beaverdale Memorial Park Cemetery, New Haven. The visiting hours will be Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m.
