Nicholas J. Lucarelli, 87

The WWII veteran was an accomplished songwriter, poet and actor. His funeral is Thursday.

Nicholas J. Lucarelli, of 1270 Sherman Ln., Hamden died on Sept. 7, 2012.

Mr. Lucarelli was born in New Haven on Aug. 8, 1925, to the late Pasquale and Allessandra Assunta Lettieri Lucarelli. He was a devoted and loving son, brother, cousin and uncle, survived by sister-in-law Martha Lucarelli of Hamden and several nieces, nephews and cousins from all around the country.

He was predeceased by 4 brothers; Michael, Paul, James, and Pasquale "Pat" Lucarelli and four sisters; Immaculate "Connie" Messina, Concetta "Clara" Vorvis, Ann Lucarelli, and Jean Lucarelli.

Nicholas lived for many years in Jackson Heights Queens and worked as a salesman for Abraham & Strauss in New York City. He also bravely served his country during WWII with the United States Coast Guard.

Nick had music in his heart. He was a member of both AFTRA & ASCAP, writing many songs over the years. He even had one recorded by Perry Cuomo.Nick was a writer, Poet and actor, having appeared in several off Broadway Productions.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the St. Ann's Society, as well as the St. Francis of Assisi Society.

Funeral will leave the East Haven Memorial Funeral Home, 425 Main St., Thursday morning at 10:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 11 a.m. Burial with full military honors will take place in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 9-10:30 a.m. prior to the Mass.
