Mr. Mikolinski was a business owner, avid sports fan, history buff who loved spending time with family and friends.

Walter John Mikolinski, Jr., 58, of Hamden, passed away at his home on Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012.

Walter was born in New Haven on Feb. 26, 1954, the son of the late Dorothy Stronk and Walter J. Mikolinski, Sr. He was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in West Haven and Northeastern University.

After practicing pharmacy, he went on to own and operate several businesses in New England, including a pharmacy, nursing homes, and a mortgage company.

Walter was an avid sports fan and history buff and enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends.

He is survived by his sons, Edward James Mikolinski and John Paul Mikolinski, grandchildren Andrew and Audrey Mikolinski, sister Donna Tucker and her husband Clifford, and nephews Stanley and Brian Fisher, and niece Heidi Tucker. Also survived by his former wife Cheryl Romanowicz Sullivan.

A Memorial Service will be held in the Lupinski Funeral Home, 821 State St., New Haven on Friday morning at 10 a.m. Entombment of ashes will follow in All Saints Cemetery Mausoleum, North Haven. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family askes that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association , CT Chapter, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Suite 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
