Hamden Residents Come Through

The need was great at Thanksgiving, but the generosity of Hamden residents was greater.

To: The Hamden Community

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

On behalf of the town of Hamden, the Keefe Community Center and the families we serve, please except our sincere appreciation of the recent efforts to help feed Hamden residents.

Thanks to the Hamden community and countless individuals, businesses, committees, organizations, schools and religious groups, we were able to provide meals to 415 low income Hamden families this Thanksgiving season, a 25 percent increase over last year.

There were many challenges along the way -- a tough economy, raising food costs, and no one could have anticipated the devastation from Super Storm Sandy. The natural disaster led to increased need and thinned resources as schools and communities scrambled to help those who needed help most.

In the end, Hamdenites came through with donations of cash, food and gift cards, and as a result, all were served.

You may have donated food or money, volunteered, made calls, ran a food drive or even collected turkeys.  Whatever your part, know that we are proud and extremely grateful when our community comes together to help its fellow citizens.

Wishing you the very best this holiday season.

while receiving Staples Rewards does help defray the cost of supplies for the teachers, they areRead More STILL putting cash out of their own pockets! This should not be. But Kudos to the teachers who put their students above their own financial situation. The Town and parents should be footing the costs, not the teachers.
