Patch's Poll: Linda McMahon or Chris Murphy?

The U.S. Senate hopefuls are now in a statistical tie in Connecticut's 2012 U.S. Senate race.

The Democratic and Republican candidates in the 2012 U.S. Senate race in Connecticut so far have solid leads against their primary opponents,.

U.S. Rep. Chris Murphy, the Democratic frontrunner, leads former Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz 50-20 percent. Meanwhile, former WWE wrestling executive Linda McMahon leads her Republican opponent, former U.S. Rep. Chris Shays, 59-30 percent.

But, what’s even more notable in the latest poll, is the shrinking gap between Murphy and McMahon. Murphy’s lead is just 46 percent versus McMahon’s 43 percent among voters in the November election. This is a statistical tie, said QU Poll Director Douglas Schwartz.

“McMahon’s improvement in the general election against Murphy is due to her better performance among independent voters,” Schwartz said. “She now has 43 percent of these key voters, to Murphy’s 41 percent, overcoming a 15-point deficit in March.”

Which of the four main candidates do you support for this upcoming Senate election? Which would you likely vote for in November? Take our poll and add your thoughts to our comments.

Hasn't Connecticut learned it's lesson yet? Electing Democrats ISN'T WORKING FOR US. That much is literally indisputable. Maybe we should try, just to see how it goes, to do something else. Maybe we try someone who actually created jobs. I know...crazy talk. Sorry. Carry on electing crooks that will promise you the moon then pay their cronies off with your tax dollars, CT. Because that's worked out so well up to now.

Chris Shays is by far the best candidate. He's not a Democrat but he's also not a Republican -- he's a moderate, which best represents most people. Murphy is a tax and spend Democrat and McMahon is a wealthy Republican who cares nothing about the average person no matter what she says. Shays isn't loaded and he is a really good guy. I remember when I lived in Fairfield County he was always coming to town to meet with people. I sure never saw any other politician do that outside of campaign time.. I'm a registered Democrat but I'm switching so I can vote for Shays in the primary.

Go ahead and elect Murphy he voted recently to KILL babies in the womb by Gender Abortion. I am not saying this because of religion I am saying this because he like many others in DC are far left Progressives who are wrecking the USA and too many people are not paying attention. As to JimK and his above post, Jim sorry to say that the voters in CT keep voting the same way. They keep doing the same thing over and over and expect different results. That the meaning of insanity. Look not only at who they elect in DC but look at all the waste sleazes in Hartford.

Murphy voted in favor of the 2000+ page health care bill without ever reading it. Now we are finding how all the taxpayers are going to be paying more for everything to try to cover the cost that is now way over what was predicted. State run healthcare does not work!

I had a conversation the other day and a woman said I can't support Linda as she is connected with WWE and it is violent.....so I said, and late term abortions are not? That kind of ended our conversation.

Chris Murphy will support the 99% and Linda McMahon will support the 1%. Don't believe the hype and don't allow her to buy this election.

This bull on the 99% and the 1% is getting to be ridiculous. The so called one percent have worked hard and become successful, the portion of the so called 99% who keep complaining need to get off their butt and go to work. Many of them got liberal arts degrees and that will get you a job in Mickey D's. We all saw what these jerks did on the New Haven Green and what they cost, time to tell them to quit their bellyaching. This is the USA, regardless of what Obama is doing to our country, and their are still opportunities if you strive to get them.

FYI -- The leading Republican candidates running for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Joe Lieberman will participate in a debate at the University of Connecticut on June 14 at noon. Don- If you think 99% of this nation are lazy than you have have been drinking the cool aid. McMahons big economic plan that she just rolled out is an attempt to bribe us. It will blow a hole in the budget and will result in the destruction of Medicare and social security.

Vote for whoever you like for U.S. Senate, but remember to vote President Obama out of office.
william tuttle June 12, 2012 at 01:28 AM
Actually Don the majority of the 1 % inherited it, and then paid politicians to make sure they kept it....by the way Don you are part of the 99%
william tuttle June 12, 2012 at 01:30 AM
Except in every other civilized country in the entire World...where it works better than our system
william tuttle June 12, 2012 at 01:31 AM
yes more republicans...with the last two senseless wars winding down ...Willard and Linda will get us right into Iran....and then cut taxes so we can not pay for it..

Let me ask you a question, Don, since I sense you are against abortion. Are you worried about the current unemployment rate of over 8% Because I was just wondering, What if the Supreme Court had never ruled in Roe v. Wade and abortion was still illegal? Wouldn't that mean that millions of babies would have been born since 1973, about 40 million? Okay, where would the those who would be 18 and over right now be working right now? Where would we find jobs for them? Hmmm? The corporate establishment has been shipping jobs overseas for decades now because of cheaper labor costs in China and India. And then stashing the profits in off-shore accounts. If you think America is going through a tough time now, imagine us as country with 347,000,000 people.

Well, well, well, it is pretty obvious that the tens of millions of dollars Linda McMahon is spending to buy herself a senate seat is working. Her propaganda machine is running very efficiently: Vote for me and I will make sure to extend the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy while I am putting Medicare and Social Security on a voucher system for all the rest of you. Step right up folks and drink my very expensive Kool Aid; I am bored with the WWF, where I have had a job denigrating women, and want to play with a Senate seat in DC. She does not have your best interests at heart. Do not be fooled by her-- you do so at your peril.
