Nutrition Tip Friday: Don't Drink Calories
Walk into any convenience store and you’ll find an extravagant amount of drink choices—more than it’s almost conceivable to process. This isn’t necessarily a good thing.
Many of the drinks are filled with sugar and calories. Have health, fat-loss or performance goals?—the empty calories in sugary drinks can lead to huge setbacks.
The best beverage choices contain no calories—water, unsweetened teas and black coffee are three great examples. Consuming water, however, takes precedent.

There are exceptions.
If you’ve been training strenuously for an hour or more it’s fine to have a drink with calories. Coconut water is a great choice. It contains electrolytes and simple carbohydrates that you can use as fuel.
