Police are looking for who they believe is a male curly-haired teenager who is responsible for a shooting Wednesday night that sent a Dixwell Avenue man to the hospital.
At about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday police got the report of an altercation at the intersection of Dixwell Avenue and First Street, according to Lt. Timothy Wydra.
When officers and detectives from the Major Crimes Unit got there, they found Robert Pouncey, 29, of Dixwell Avenue, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Wydra said.
The Hamden Fire Department treated and transported Pouncey to Yale-New Haven Hospital, Wydra said, and his wounds don't appear life-threatening.
A police K-9 was brought in but was unsuccessful in tracking a suspect, who is thought to b a black male, 15-18 years old with curly hair. He was riding a bicycle at the time of the shooting, Wydra said. Police are still unsure of a motive for the shooting, he said.
