Body Found in Woodin Street Yard Identified

She was a Putnam Avenue woman, according to police.

Police have identified the person whose , but have not yet determined a cause of death.

The victim was Christine Pate, 50, of 451 Putnam Ave. in Hamden, according to Hamden Police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.

Pate was reported missing earlier in the day by her “Housing Care Manager,” Smith said. The address is that of Leeway Putnam, a residential supportive housing program for individuals with medical needs.

She had last been seen about Feb. 29, Smith said, but was reported missing last Thursday, the day her body was found.

Pate was found about 4 p.m. Thursday when homeowner Raymond Bettley ventured into his back yard at 388 Woodin St. to do yard work. He found the body lying on a wood pile by his shed.

Hamden Police and Fire Rescue responded the home and paramedics pronounced her dead about 4:15 p.m., Smith said.

Pate’s body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Farmington, and police are awaiting the results of the examination, including toxicology reports, Smith said.

The Hamden Police Department Major Crimes Unit is continuing their investigation, he said, working with the Medical Examiner’s Office.
