Bridgeport Man Caught Allegedly Stealing Tires

Arrested after a short foot chase, according to police.

A Bridgeport man was arrested last week after officers allegedly saw him trying to take lug nuts off a tire.

On Nov. 7 at about 11:30 p.m. Officer Bryan Kelly was patroling in the area of 409 Treadwell Street when he saw the an removing lug nuts off of a tire, police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith said.

When Kelly approached the man, he took off and a foot pursuit commenced, Smith said. Kelly caught up with him a short distance away, Smith said.

Clarence Keen, 45, of 408 Bishop Ave., Bridgeport, was charged with fourth degree criminal Mischief, third-degree criminal Trespass, attempted second-degree criminal trover and criminal attempt to commit sixth-degree larceny.

Keen posted $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court Tuesday.
