Burglaries Hit Quinnipiac University

In the last three days there were three burglaries and one attempted burglary at Quinnipiac University, according to police.

On Monday, someone broke into a first-floor residence while the two female students who live there slept, according to Hamden Police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith said.

"It appears that the individual cut a screen and then entered through an open window," Smith said. "Electronic equipment was stolen in the burglary."

The second burglary happened during the early morning hours Sunday when three female students heard a noise coming from the downstairs area of their ground-level dorm, Smith said. They found their window open and the screen removed, he said, and a man was seen fleeing from their residence

A third reported burglary also occurred during the early morning hours of October 13, Smith said, when someone entered the ground-level residence of two male students and stole electronic equipment. The students were in their second floor bedrooms while the burglary occurred, Smith said.
