Cheshire Woman Charged with DUI

Hit a parked car on Whitney Avenue early Sunday morning, according to police.

A Cheshire woman was arrested early Sunday morning after she slammed into a parked car on Whitney Avenue, according to police.

At about 2 a.m. Sunday police got the report of a motor vehicle accident in the area of 3200 Whitney Ave., police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith said.

When officers got to the scene, they found that a man who was delivering pizza had parked his car on Whitney Avenue while making a delivery, Smith said. While the car was parked, a second car traveling north on Whitney Avenue struck the parked car at a high rate of speed, Smith said.

The driver, Leigh Nahary, 24, of 229 Forest Ln., Cheshire, was administered a field sobriety test at the accident scene, which she failed, Smith said.  

A passenger in Nahary’s vehicle was transported to Yale–New Haven Hospital with rib and shoulder injuries, according to Smith.

Nahary was charged with driving under the influence and following too closely. She was released after posting $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court Dec. 15.
