Cops: Argument Halloween Night Leads to Stabbing

Girlfriend allegedly stabbed man in the head, according to police.

A Pine Rock Avenue man was stabbed in the head allegedly by his girlfriend after an argument Halloween night, according to police.

Police got the report of an assault with a knife about 9:15 p.m. Wednesday night at the Regency Hills Apartment Complex, 300 Pine Rock Ave., according to police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.

When officers got there, they found the 35-year-old Hamden man lying unconscious in the third-floor hallway "bleeding profusely from the head," Smith said. Hamden Fire Rescue treated him at the scene and he was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital. His condition isn't know at this time, Smith said Thursday afternoon.

Apparently earlier the man and his girlfriend, Stephanie Darden, 37, of 302 Pine Rock Ave., Apt. B14, had gotten into an argument that had turned physical, Smith said. Neighbors who live on the second floor of the building tried to break up the fight, he said, but the man was apparently stabbed in the head and began to bleed and lost consciousness.

Darden was charged with second-degree assault and disorderly conduct. She was held in lieu of $100,000 bond and was arraigned today in Meriden Superior Court.

Detective William Onofrio conducted the investigation, Smith said.
