Dixwell Avenue Dunkin Donuts Robbed at Gunpoint

The suspect put a gun to one employee's head and demanded money, according to police.

There were some terrifying moments for two Dunkin Donuts employees Sunday night when the store was robbed at gunpoint, according to police.

Hamden Police got the report of the robbery at the store at 938 Dixwell Ave. at about 10:15 p.m., police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith said.

According to reports, one of the employees took the trash out when a man approached her, put a gun to her head and ordered her to go back inside, Smith said.

"Once inside, the individual advised the employee to open the cash register," Smith said in a release Monday. "Before, departing, the gunman forced the employee and her co-worker into a utility closet."

No one was injured, Smith said, and it's not known how much money the gunman got away with.

Searching the area put the suspect at the corner of Goodrich and Butler streets, but the trail ended there, Smith said.

The suspect is described as a tall black man wearing a black sweatshirt and red and white sneakers, he said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Sean Dolan at 203-230-4040.
