Drug Investigation Leads to New Haven Man's Arrest

Marijuana and a gun were found in a location where police suspected drug activity was taking place, and a New Haven man is now facing charges.

 

A "lengthy investigation" into the sale of illegal drugs cumulated Tuesday with the arrest of a New Haven man after officers raided a Goodrich Street grocery store.

The Hamden Police Department's Street Interdiction Team conducted the investigation that led them to Kool's Place at 321 Goodrich St., where officers believed Isaac Kiniti, 37, of 475 Elm St., New Haven was conducting drug transactions, according to police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.

"Hamden Police executed a search and seizure warrant at Kool’s Place," Smith said. "Officers recovered a loaded .22 caliber rifle, as well as a small quantity of marijuana"

The investigation and raid led to the submitting of three arrest warrants for Kinti, Smith said, which were approved.

 Kiniti was charged with three counts of sale of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance. He was held in lieu of $150,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on March12.

The investigation is continuing, Smith said.
