Hamden High School Student Arrested on Weapons Charges
He allegedly brought an air soft pistol to school, according to police.
A Hamden High School student was arrested this week for allegedly bringing a firearm to school, according to police.
On Tuesday at about 11:30 a.m. School Resource Officer Paul Calamita was called to the first floor of the school after high school security had obtained information that a student was in the possession of a firearm, according to police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.

Calamita then found and escorted the student, a 16 year-old, from his classroom, Smith said, and aftter searching his book bag, school security found a black-colored air soft pistol.
The 16 year-old was charged with possession of a weapon on cchool grounds and breach of peace. He is scheduled to appear in Juvenile Court in New Haven on Feb.22 and was released to the custody of his father, Smith said.
