Hamden Man Accused of Threatening Neighbor With Gun While Dogs Fought

Ivan Bobe Jr. allegedly pointed .380 caliber handgun at pit bulls' owner as the three dogs attacked another canine.

A Hamden man was arrested after allegedly pointing a firearm at and threatening to shoot a neighbor, who was trying to separate his three pit bulls from attacking another dog Thursday morning.

Ivan Bobe Jr., 24, of 6 Glenbrook Avenue, faces charges of reckless endangerment and threatening and had his .380 caliber handgun seized, according to a police press release.

Hamden police responded to Glenbrook Avenue at 10:30 a.m. after receiving an animal nuisance complaint.

Investigation by Officer Nicholas D'Angelo revealed that three pit bulls escaped from 46 Glenbrook Avenue and attacked another canine that was roaming in the area, according to the release. As the owner of the pit bulls approached the canines, in an attempt to separate them, he observed his neighbor, Ivan Bobe Jr., kicking them.

Police say that Bobe Jr. then allegedly pointed a firearm at the owner of the pit bulls and threatened to shoot him.

The Hamden Animal Control Division is continuing the investigation with regard to the involvement of the pit bulls. Police say enforcement action is forthcoming.

Bobe Jr. was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree threatening and breach of peace. He was released on $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on July 22.
