Hamden PD: Suspect Sought in Attempted Power Tool Heist

Hamden Police seek public's help in ID'ing attempted larceny suspect.


Hamden Police are seeking the public's help in identifying a man who tried to hijack power tools from the Home Depot over the weekend.

According to a police report, at about 4 p.m. Sunday, April 6, a Hispanic male in his mid-20s attempted to walk out of Home Depot with several power tools under his jacket. When he was approached by a security officer, the suspect punched officer in the stomach, before running into the parking lot.

The man then fled northbound on Dixwell Avenue in an older maroon Saturn that didn't have a license plate. Police checked the area but couldn't locate the suspect or the car.

Police have released a still shot from the surveillance footage and ask if anyone recognizes the suspect to contact Officer Shawn Nutcher at the Hamden Patrol Division at 203-230-4030.
