Hamden Police Blotter -- Thursday, Feb. 7

The new year started off with lots of new arrests for the Hamden Police Department, including charges of first-degree robbery, forgery, larceny and assault.

 

-- Romeik Best, 20, of 12 Lee St., Hamden, was charged Jan. 10 with third-degree forgery and fourth-degree larceny. He was released on a promise to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Jan. 24.

-- Anthony Carmichael, 23, of 118 Hobart St., New Haven, was charged Jan. 9 with two counts of first-degree robbery. He was held in lieu of $150,000 bond and was arraigned the same day in Meriden Superior Court.

-- Alexander Cruz, 39, of 204 Hamilton St., New Haven, was charged Jan. 8 with fourth-degree larceny. He was released on a promise to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Jan. 24.

-- Meghan Dubielwicz, 33, of 132 Wintergreen Ave., Hamden, was charged Jan. 10 with two counts of failure to appear in court. She was held in lieu of $2,500 bond and was arraigned Jan. 24  in Meriden Superior Court.

-- Alejandro Feliciano, 22, of Waterbury, was charged Jan. 10 with breach of peace and harrassment. He was released on a promise to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Jan. 24.

-- Joseph Giordano, 33, of 22 Gordon St., East Haven, was charged Jan. 11 with third-degree forgery and and illegally obtaining a prescription. He was arraigned the same day in Meriden Superior Court.

-- Philip Gulley, 21, of 102 Beacon St., Hamden, was charged Jan. 10 with disorderly conduct. He was arraigned the next day in Meriden Superior Court.

-- Terri Haynes, 44, of 195 Butler St., Hamden, was charged Jan. 5 with sixth-degree larceny. She was released on a promise to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Jan. 18.

-- John Higgins, 19, of 51 Spring Glen Terr., Hamden, was charged Jan. 11 with two counts of possession of drugs near a prohibited place and possession of marijuana. He was held in lieu of $2,500 bond and was arraigned Jan. 25 in Meriden Superior Court.

-- Deborah Kelly, 55, of 2364 State St., Hamden, was charged Jan. 10 with sixth-degree larceny. She was released on a promise to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Jan. 23.

-- Lamar McCullough, 28, of 52 Lexington St., Hamden, was charged Jan. 8 with disorderly conduct, assault and threatening. He was held in lieu of $10,000 bond and was arraigned the next day in Meriden Superior Court.

But Kudos to the teachers who put their students above their own financial situation. The Town and parents should be footing the costs, not the teachers.
