Hamden Police Bust Suspect in Shoplifting, Carjacking Incident


Hamden Police have arrested a Wallingford man suspected of shoplifting and carjacking incident at a Shop Rite in Hamden and kidnapping a teenager during his getaway. 

David Vega, 43, kidnapped a 17-year-old boy and ordered him to drive him to a local parking lot during a larceny incident at the grocery store on May 26, police said.

Vega faces charges of second-degree kidnapping, first-degree threatening and sixth-degree larceny after he  surrendered to police, according to an NBC Connecticut report.

Vega was held on a $250,000 bond and was arraigned in Meriden Superior Court.
