Hamden Police Make Arrest in April Street Robbery Case

A Hamden man turned himself in to police Tuesday morning in connection with an April 20 street robbery where a cell phone and $120 was stolen.

Jesse Cheathem, 23, of Fourth Street, was arrested on charges of third-degree robbery, second-degree threatening and second-degree breach of peace.

According to a police press release, police responded to the parking lot of 609 Mix Avenue on April 20 for a report of a street robbery. The 23-year-old victim told police he was approached by two individuals who were known to him. The individuals threatened the victim and told him to empty his pockets, then stole the $120 and cell phone, police said.

After an investigation, an arrest warrant was issued and approved for Cheathem. He is scheduled to appear in Meriden court on Aug. 5.

Another man, 23-year-old Dante Blackmon, was arrested June 3, according to the New Haven Register, and faces the same charges in connection with the incident.
