A man held employees at GameXChange at gunpoint Friday night and stole cash from the store, according to police.

Hamden Police are investigating an armed robbery at GameXChange on Dixwell Avenue Friday night.

At about 8:30p.m. police responded to the store at 2165 Dixwell Ave. on the report of an armed robbery, according to police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.

Officers learned that a man described as a black male, 45 to 50 years of age, 6’5”, thin build, wearing a tan suit, glasses, baseball hat, entered the store at approximately 8 p.m., and was browsing until all of the customers had left the store, Smith said.

The man then approached the employees and held them at gunpoint while demanding money, Smith said. The man escorted the employees to a storage room and then removed an undisclosed amount of money from a cash box, he said.

An immediate search for the man was unsuccessful, Smith said. Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. William Onofrio at 203-230-4040.
