Hamden Police Seek Sushi-Stealing Shopper

The man allegedly assaulted a ShopRite security guard and stole his radio before taking off, according to police.

Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the man they say robbed ShopRite Tuesday evening and fought with a security guard.

Hamden Police got a report from the store at 2100 Dixwell Ave. of a shoplifting Tuesday at about 6:30 p.m., according to police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.

The call came after a store security officer saw a man, described as a white male in his 40’s, walking in the store isles, eating boxes of sushi, Smith said. They then saw him leave the store with several additional boxes of sushi, he said.
