Hamden Teen Accused of Stealing a Car

A New Haven teen, 15, was also charged.

On Monday, Hamden police responded to a Hume Drive residence on the report of two stolen motor vehicles, police said in a release.

Officer Brett Ferrara responded and obtained a description of the stolen vehicles.

About three hours later, Officer Michael Nawrocki observed one of the stolen vehicles traveling on Cherry Ann Street, police said.

He attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop for several blocks, police said. The driver of the stolen vehicle eventually stopped on Arch Street, due to the heavy volume of traffic, police said. Officers promptly took the operator and passenger into custody.

Police arrested the driver, a 15-year-old Hamden resident. He was charged with first-degree larceny and driving a vehicle without a license.
