Hamden Teen Charged With Sunday Shooting

The suspect was captured in Waterbury, according to police.

One Hamden teenager is facing charges that he shot another Hamden teen Sunday evening.

The shooting took place about 6 p.m. Sunday, when Hamden Police got the report of the incident at Dixwell Avenue and Dudley Street.

The victim, a 17-year-old Hamden resident, had been shot in the leg and groin area, police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith said. He was treated at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

On Dec. 31, after a thorough investigation, Hamden Police arrested the shooter at a Hamilton Avenue service station in Waterbury," Smith said. "Members of the Hamden Police Department Patrol Division, Detective Division, Street Interdiction Team, Special Response Team and New Haven Region Shooting Task Force participated in the arrest."

The suspect, also a 17 year-old Hamden resident, was charged with first-degree robbery with a dangerous instrument, first-degree assault, carrying a pistol without a permit and second-degree larceny. 

The suspect was incarcerated at the Juvenile Detention Center in Bridgeport and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 10, Smith said.

Detective William Onofrio and Officer Dennis Ryan conducted the investigation, Smith said.

a bad guy with an ILLEGAL gun. Oh, how ironic, Guess Malloy's new gun laws didn't effect him. Bet he didn't register his gun. But then again, maybe it wasn't an "ASSAULT STYLE" WEAPON, or have a large capacity magazine.
