Hamden Woman Among Many Nabbed In Raid

SWAT teams raided a New Haven housing project this morning, making drug arrests, as well as arrests for risk of injury to minors.

 

A Dixwell Avenue woman was one of several people caught this morning in pre-dawn raids early this morning by the Connecticut State Police Tactical Team, along withthe New Haven Police Department's SWAT Team.

The two teams executed three search warrants in the Church Street South Housing Project, which police say has a history of gang activity, violent crime and narcotics activity, affecting the quality of life for the residents in the community.

The search warrants were issued after an extensive investigation into illegal narcotics dealing in this area, according to State Police spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance. Members of State Police Statewide Narcotics Task Force secured warrants for those responsible for the sale of illegal drugs, he said.

The raids were conducted at 4C Cinque Green, 7C Station Court and 14A Malcolm Court. Arrested for sales of narcotics and other narcotics related charges were:

  • Marquita Landelius, 37, of 4C Cinque Green
  • Jules Kierce, 21, of 7C Station Court
  • Jose Rivera, 43, of 14A Malcolm Court

Also arrested for other narcotics on-site charges were:

  • Ebony Baines, 32, of 52 Loveland St., Middletown
  • Michael Radford, 31, of 61 Stevens St., New Haven
  • Shirley Thomas, 49, of 1008 Dixwell Ave., Hamden
  • Natasha Radford, 29, of 7C Station Ct., New Haven

The following targets of this investigation were also charged with other new on-site narcotics charges as well:

  • Marquita Landelius, 37, of 4C Cinque Green
  • Jules Kierce, 21, of 7C Station Court

The State Police Statewide Narcotics Task Force works directly with the Department of Children and Families, together focusing on the Drug Endangered Children Program (DEC Program). DCF workers responded and assisted with five children located in these homes. One child was removed and four were referred to the program. Several of those arrested were charged with risk of injury as well.

Seized in the operation was crack cocaine, heroin, several items of drug paraphernalia and packaging and cash. All of those arrested will appear in New Haven Superior Court today.

The Connecticut State Police Statewide Narcotics Unit South Central Field Office is comprised of State Police Detectives, as well as officers from New Haven, Orange, Woodbridge, Cheshire and West Haven Police Departments.
