Hamden Woman Charged with Passing Counterfeit Bills

She allegedly tried to pay for a motel room in Milford with counterfeit tens and twenties, according to Milford Police.


A Hamden woman was arrested for allegedly renting a motel room and paying with a $10 and two $20 bills which were determined to be counterfeit.

Officers also located additional counterfeit currency inside a vehicle that was occupied by Nicole Melendez, 30, of Hamden, and her male acquaintance, according to police.

Melendez was charged with first-degree forgery and first-degree conspiracy to commit forgery.

She was released on a promise to appear in Milford Superior Court on Dec. 11.
