A Monroe woman received harassing phone calls from a man with a thick Indian accent claiming to be from the state police and to have several warrants for her arrest. Then he claimed to be a lawyer representing a loan company and said if she did not send partial payment on her loans immediately, she would be arrested and fired from her job.
Police said a website shows several complaints about the same scam.

A member of the crew said he saw the man was clutching a red Shindaiwa leaf blower as he ran, enter a Nissan Altima parked on the street and speed away.
