Man Charged with Attempted Burglary Returns to the Scene of the Crime

For the second time in six week, man arrested on Pine Rock Avenue.

An alert woman reported suspicious activity to police early Wednesday morning, leading to the arrest of a man who had previously been charged with trying to break in to the homes there.

Police received the report of the activity in the area of 302 Pine Rock Ave. about 2 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to police spokesman Det. Anthony Diaz.

The woman told police that she saw a man hanging around the apartments who she knew had been arrested for trying to break into to homes there, Diaz said. She described the man as a black male wearing a white hooded sweatshirt and a black jacket, Diaz said.

On Dec. 25, 2010 he was charged with third-degree criminal trespass, third-degree burglary and fourth-degree criminal mischief. That day he was in the same area of Pine Rock Avenue trying to break into a home, according to police.

Apparently he did not appear in court on those charges, so the warrant for rearrest was issued.

Taft was held on a court set $10,000 bond and is due to appear in Meriden Superior Court Feb. 23.
